Apple Cider Vinegar has seen a significant rise in popularity for more than its distinct taste!
This nutrient-dense liquid gold has been around for thousands of years—dating back to the time of Hippocrates!—and impressively enough the process of creating it hasn’t changed in that time. The apples chosen are crushed and combined with yeast and sugar before being fermented into alcohol. The substance is then fermented again until it becomes the sour vinegar that many are adding to their diets every day.
Most apple cider vinegar available on the market today, including our very own unfiltered & unpasteurized Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, includes what’s known as Mother. This cloudy substance is formed by the naturally occurring pectin and contains beneficial enzymes and minerals.
So what’s with all the ACV hype and how can you hop on the bandwagon?
Each serving of apple cider vinegar supplies a potent nutritional profile. It is rich in nutrients such as folic acid, potassium, calcium, B-vitamins, iron & vitamin C. It’s used in both internal and external applications, with many people enjoying the benefits this liquid has on the skin and hair!
Want to get more ACV in your daily life? Here are five ways you can get more of this substance every day!
Homemade Salad Dressing
Instead of using oil-heavy dressing, create your own homemade dressing using 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed with lemon juice, garlic and your favorite herbs (we recommend parsley), to taste.
ACV Honey Shots
Combine 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with honey or another natural sweetener to help cut some of its acidity and make it easy to take by the shot full! Take before or between meals.
Sneak It into Your Shakes
Shakes and smoothies are a great way to get a serving of healthy foods that you may not think taste so great. Try adding a teaspoon at a time (up to 1 tablespoon) of apple cider vinegar to your next smoothie, tasting as you go along to make sure it’s not too overpowering since it has a naturally strong flavor.
Support Your Glowing Skin
Mix one part apple cider vinegar to 4 parts pure water, dabbing onto the skin with a soft cotton ball. Let the mixture sit for about 7-8 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Try The “No Poo” Method
Trying to cut shampoo from your routine? ACV has seen a rise in popularity when it comes to combining with baking soda to clean and condition your hair! In the shower, rub ½ tablespoon of baking soda into your scalp, massaging gently, then rinse. Follow up with an apple cider vinegar spray of 1 part ACV and 3 parts water, focusing on the ends. Let it sit for a couple minutes before rinsing. It’s important to keep in mind that this method should only be done every 4 days or so until your hair gets used to it (typically about 6 months), then most people only need to do it 1-2 times per month with occasional washes in between.
