Tips for staying active in springtime from PipingRock

We’re so excited that spring is in full swing!

Now that warmer weather is finally here, it’s time to shake off any winter blues, brush the dust off our bicycles and get outside! There are countless ways to stay active during the springtime, but all the new and sudden activity could be rough on our bodies. Here are a few tips to keep you feeling happy and healthy this spring!

Protect from the sun

While we love being outside, it’s easy to forget to apply sunscreen – especially when it’s not summer yet. But it’s important to remember whenever you’re outside, so look into a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.

Hydrate
A day’s worth of activities outside can leave your body feeling dehydrated. That’s why it is important to pack water and make sure that you have enough on hand so that no matter where you go or what you do on a beautiful sunny day – you’re well-hydrated. 

Check your equipment
If you haven’t taken a ride on your bike in a while – or haven’t taken out your other sports equipment, like kayaks, skateboards, and sporting equipment since the summertime – it’s important to do a bit of maintenance. Though this step might feel boring, making sure that everything is in working order can save you money in maintenance costs and help decrease the chance of accidents.

Eat Smart
Like keeping hydrated, staying active in the springtime requires the right foods to fuel your active day. If you’re enjoying a weekend outside with your family or friends – pack a picnic and some snacks! Find the right foods to fuel your physical activity and enjoy the day!
